Bainbridge selected for international biodiversity project
The City of Bainbridge Island has been selected as the site of one of five pilot projects by the Business and Biodiversity Offsets Program (BBOP). The Bainbridge project will join pilot efforts in Uganda, Ghana, Mexico and Qatar as a demonstration of the effectiveness of biodiversity offsets--conservation actions that seek to compensate for the impacts of development projects.

BBOP will provide advice and technical assistance as Bainbridge develops incentive-based policies to ensure conservation of forests, wildlife habitat, and biodiversity. BBOP is a worldwide partnership of over 50 companies, government agencies, and conservation experts exploring biodiversity offsets.
For more information, contact the City of Bainbridge Island Community Forestry Commission, 206-842-2552.
